My Approach to Therapy
You may be feeling stuck in familiar patterns – perhaps finding yourself overwhelmed by emotions, struggling with anxiety or low mood, or noticing recurring difficulties in relationships. These experiences can often feel confusing, frustrating, or exhausting, particularly when you're not sure why they keep happening.
I offer a warm, open, and compassionate space where we can begin to make sense of what you’re going through. Therapy can provide an opportunity to slow things down, reflect, and develop a deeper understanding of yourself with curiosity rather than judgement. My aim is to help you feel heard, understood, and supported as we explore the difficulties you may be facing.
I take an integrative approach to therapy, meaning I draw on a range of therapeutic models developed through many years of clinical training and experience. These include Relational and Analytical Therapies, Cognitive Behavioural Therapies, Compassion Focused Therapies and Trauma Informed Therapies. Rather than applying a single approach, I tailor therapy to fit the unique needs, strengths, and circumstances each person brings.
I have experience in and a particular interest in psychodynamic thinking. In simple terms, this involves exploring how unconcious experiences, past experiences and relationship patterns may shape your present-day feelings, behaviours, and ways of relating to others. Often, difficulties that feel immediate or situational can have deeper roots. By understanding these patterns together, therapy can help you develop greater insight, flexibility, and choice in how you respond to life’s challenges. I am continuing further training and qualifications in this type of therapy.
Alongside my broader clinical work, I have a particular interest in supporting members of the LGBTQ+ community, especially gay men, and exploring how experiences of identity, relationships, stigma, discrimination and belonging may shape emotional wellbeing and our sense of self.
I welcome people of all gender, sexual orientation, faiths, ethnicities and backgrounds. I offer both short-term and long-term therapy and combine integrative methods of therapy to suit your needs. I aim to offer an affirming, inclusive space where people can explore their experiences safely and openly.
My clinical experience includes working with:
Depression and low mood
Anxiety and stress
Loss/Bereavement and adjustment
Relationship difficulties
Disordered eating patterns
Obsessive and compulsive behaviours
Neurodevelopmental Conditions (Including Autism, ADHD and Learning Disabilities)
Brain Injury
