Neurodevelopmental & Cognitive Assessments
Alongside my therapeutic work, I offer a small, specialist private assessment service for adults and young people seeking a better understanding of their neurodevelopmental profile, cognitive abilities and individual strengths and difficulties.
My approach to assessment is thoughtful, collaborative and person-centred. I recognise that seeking an assessment can be an important and sometimes daunting step, whether you are looking for greater clarity about longstanding experiences, exploring a possible diagnosis, or hoping to better understand your own or your child's needs.
Autism Assessments
I offer autism spectrum condition (ASC) assessments for adults and young people where clinically appropriate. Assessments are informed by developmental history, individual experiences, standardised assessment tools and relevant information from family members or others who know the individual well, where appropriate.
My aim is to provide a comprehensive and sensitive assessment process that considers each person's unique developmental, psychological and social context, with clear feedback and recommendations to support understanding and next steps.
Cognitive & Intellectual Assessments
I also offer cognitive assessments for individuals who wish to better understand their cognitive strengths and areas of difficulty, or where there are questions about a possible intellectual disability.
These assessments typically involve formal, standardised measures of intellectual functioning (IQ), alongside a broader consideration of developmental history, everyday functioning and the individual's circumstances.
Following assessment, I provide a detailed written report, including interpretation of findings, psychological formulation where appropriate, and personalised recommendations. A feedback session is offered to discuss the results, answer questions and consider any further support or signposting that may be helpful.
An Individualised Assessment Process
As a small, specialist service, I take care to ensure that each assessment is appropriate, clinically meaningful and tailored to the individual.
Before offering an assessment, I undertake a detailed initial screening to understand the reasons for referral, relevant background information and what you hope to gain from the process. This helps establish whether the assessment I offer is suitable for your needs, or whether another service or pathway may be more appropriate.
Assessment fees are provided following this initial screening, as the nature and scope of an assessment can vary depending on individual circumstances and clinical requirements.
If you are considering an autism or cognitive assessment for yourself or a young person, you are welcome to get in touch to discuss your needs and explore whether my service may be a suitable fit.
